While many got to see Ry Cooder perform in the late 70’s and early 80’s, it has been a rare occurrence to see him since. His 1981 shows at U of T’s Convocation Hall were voted “the best concerts of the year” by all three Toronto newspapers, the Star, the Globe & Mail and the Toronto Sun. This is the only time all three papers would agree on their choice.
Cooder performed at Centrepointe Theatres in 2016 with Ricky Skaggs and Sharon White, with two sold-out shows but this will be the first time he brings us an evening of essential Ry Cooder music to Ottawa. On June 27th, Ry Cooder and his Band play Centrepointe Theatres to celebrate much of his greatest musical work plus songs from his much anticipated new recording “The Prodigal Son”, to be released in early May of this year.
